TB&A Announces Team Win for the Kennedy Street Green Infrastructure Streetscape Project

KennedyTina Boyd and Associates is a part of the team recently awarded the contract for the design of the Kennedy Street Green Infrastructure Streetscape Project.

Nitsch Engineering, along with its team members including TB&A, will design and implement a unique streetscape for the 100 block of Kennedy Street, N.W. The Green Infrastructure will include installing green roofs (gardens on rooftops), rain gardens, rain barrels, and pervious pavements, removing impervious surfaces, and using other natural means to capture and infiltrate rain water, aiding in the alleviation of combined sewer overflows (CSO) in the District.

TB&A is tasked with community outreach and facilitating public meetings during the pre-design phase of the project. The Project is anticipated to be constructed in coordination with DDOT’s streetscape improvement work during Spring/Summer 2016.

TB&A President Mentors Future Transportation Leaders

Tina and GirlsTB&A Founder and President, Tina Boyd, was invited to participate as a mentor at the In Her Shoes: Empowering Future Leaders in Transportation conference. This one-day event held at US Department of Transportation’s (USDOT) headquarters and sponsored by USDOT’s Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU), focused on uplifting and educating young women as future leaders in the transportation industry.

Hosted by Anthony Fox (DOT Secretary) and Phylicia Rashad (Actress/Celebrity Guest), the conference featured panels on professional etiquette, finding your career path and an opportunity to meet one-on-one with women in the transportation industry.

It was during the one-on-one mentoring sessions that Ms. Boyd was able to encourage and give sound advice to a group of young women who were very enthusiastic and excited about the opportunity to learn as much as possible about the industry. “ I was very impressed by this group of young women’s willingness to learn and desire for hands on experience,” said Boyd. “ After the event, I immediately signed up for the Marion Barry Summer Youth Program and look forward to having a few of the attendees as interns.”

This event, held on March 4th, was in commemoration of Women’s History Month and part of President Obama’s “Ladders of Opportunity” initiative.
